Look What I Made!!!!

I LOVE my new (and first) sewing machine.

One of my first handbag creations. Made out of Upolstery Fabric Samples. I used Mylar in the top band in order to reinforce that shape. The bottom of the bag has plastic craft mesh covered in felt, so it does not sag when items are actually put inside. Zipper closure inserted and lined with one side of the handled made out of the lining fabric. The bow is also made from the lining fabric.

He is missing an arm. When people ask, he likes to tell them he lost it in a dog fight. (it makes him feel like a cool cat) The real reason is that I have not sewn it on yet. Please don't tell him...he-he

A good friend of mine had a pet duck was he was a child and his stories about Inky Pinky (that was the name of the duck) inspired me to make some out of felt. There are several names for "groups" of ducks, (see others here) But I chose paddling...Quack Quack!!!!

This elephant is smaller and more refined than the pink one. I used the same pattern for both.

Miniature Felt Handbag

Here is a pic of the Miniature Felt Handbag I designed.
It was really easy to make. The shape of the bag was first cut out of cardboard. This makes it really easy to stitch the felt without having to worry about losing the shape.
